On Saturday, November 22, 2025, the first Bensgiving was held at the Christmas Community Center in Christmas, Florida. The term “Bensgiving” comes from two concepts: Thanksgiving was Ben’s favorite holiday, and he always had a giving spirit. Thus, Bensgiving was born. Thanks to the hard work and dedication of many volunteers, over 50 people from Ben’s Village gathered to remember Ben and share stories with each other. This was also the first opportunity to share the mission of the foundation with many folks in the village and encourage them to pay it forward. A good time was had by all!
About Ben
As a young boy, Ben was very outgoing, making friends easily and quickly. His friend groups were as diverse as his interests. He was sensitive to those who struggled. From his youth, he cared for others by giving what he had to those who had less. Ben gave skateboards, clothes, and shoes to those in need. As he matured, this giving spirit remained a defining aspect of his character. He continued to give his possessions, resources, time and talents to assist others through a difficult time. He always said, “It’s not my money, it’s just my turn with it.”
Ben loved music, skateboarding, target shooting, trucks, auto mechanics, and enjoyed learning new skills such as HVAC. He was determined to make his own way in the world. He learned the importance of independence and the value of hard work. He became a master mechanic for an auto repair company. He demonstrated his ability to produce quality work with a high ethical standard, earning the trust of the customers he served. He completed an AA degree in High Performance Technology. He was a teacher to those who demonstrated a willingness to learn. He believed in the value of education and was not shy about finding the answers to questions he faced.
Ben’s life was cut short after only 30 years. But in those years, he left an undeniable impression on many people. He demonstrated caring, consistency and commitment to those he loved, both family and friends. He always showed up for others. Ben’s life was a shining example of what it means to live with compassion, and he left a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

About the foundation
The Foundation was created to keep Ben’s legacy of giving, teaching, and helping alive. The 501(c)3 non-profit foundation is seeking to find those who want to carry on Ben’s legacy -- to help those Ben would have helped. We can lighten someone’s burden, by being aware of those within our daily sphere of influence and by providing aid or “micro-help” to those who are struggling through a difficult situation.
We also want to encourage others to pay it forward. The Foundation looks for those who want to carry on Ben’s legacy of help using their time, talent, skills, and resources to assist those in need. The foundation is designed to support people in a tangible and practical way, while furthering his commitment to pay it forward.
